On behalf of our coalition which includes Mountain Bike Bristol, Bristol Trail Network, and the Bristol Recreation Department I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with our community. While many of you know me as the co-owner of Cool Motion Outdoor Sports, I also have 15 years of experience in the conservation and forest products industries—and this project brings both of those passions together in a truly special way.The Hogback Mountain has been beloved by the Bristol community for generations. We are incredibly grateful to The A. Johnson Company (AJCO) and the Johnson family for their flexibility and generosity in allowing the community to access and enjoy their privately owned land. Over the last six months Mountain Bike Bristol has been working with AJCO to explore the possibility of developing new trails on the Hogback to better enable multi use outdoor recreation while addressing erosion and degradation issues caused by informal use.Our vision is a multi-use recreational area that protects the land's ecological integrity, offers inclusive outdoor recreation for all levels, boosts economic growth for Bristol, and successfully coexists with traditional forest land uses like logging, sugaring, and hunting. With thoughtful planning and collaboration, we believe we can create an area that showcases the best of Vermont—while also offering opportunities for forest stewardship education and leaving a lasting legacy to honor the contributions the Johnson family has provided to our town over the last 90-or-so years. This exciting, multi-year project is just getting started. We acknowledge the importance of engaging the community throughout the planning process and we would like to invite you to provide your thoughts through this survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1T4n6MNiM2soEHwmTDubI1Wzn663qoTBtbaDCIX2N_2vlfg/viewformWe invite you to join us on March 25th at 6:30 PM at Holley Hall to learn more about our vision. Please direct any questions that you may have directly to our planning coalition through info@coolmotionoutdoorsports.com.*UPDATED SLIDES FROM MARCH 25th Community Meeting HERE
