Historical introduction of Bristol Town Green Fountain
Two fountains for the town of Bristol were built, both fountains were manufactured by E.F. Moore of Burlington. For Greenwood Cemetery in the early 1900’s. With the financial contribution of W.A. Lawrence, (of Bristol’s Lawrence Memorial Library) and The Village Improvement Society, one of the two fountains was placed in the village Green.
The fountain in the Greenwood cemetery was presented to the Bristol cemetery association by W.A. Lawrence
The fountain in the park (present era) was presented to the Bristol Village by the Village Improvement Society in 1908.

The Village Improvement Society elected 1 official at the meeting last evening: President, F. G. Haskins; Vice President, E.W. Varney and vise Bertha Stewart: secretary, P.K Wilson; treasurer, H.N. Tatro; executive committee, E.A. Tobin, H.C.E. Bibio, W.B. Bosworth, W.A. Lawrence, F R. Dickerman, Mr. R.F. Hatch. Mrs.
G.F. Edmunde, Mrs. F.Q. Haskins.
The society needed about $50 in order to pay all bills connected with the purchase and installing of the fountain. Every individual in the village should be a member of the society. The admission fee is 50 cents for gentlemen and 25 cents tor ladies, now is the time to help in this matter. Join the society and thus aid in paying for the fountain: It you do not wish to become a member contribute 25 or 50 cents, or a larger amount it you feel so inclined. The fountain will add to the beauty of the park and village. You want to help in this enterprise. Leave your contributions with the treasurer H N, Tatro.

Have you contributed to the fountain fand? H.N. Tatro is treasurer and will be pleased to receive any sum no matter how small for this fund. Help swell the fund so that the fountain can be turned over to the village free of debt. About $10 more is needed. Will you be one of the contributors?

The fountain which has been placed in the Greenwood cemetery by W. H. Lawrence will be presented to the association at the close of the Odd Fellows exercise at the cemetery Sunday afternoon.

W.A. Lawrence’s gift of a beautiful fountain to Bristol cemetery association was a most generous and grateful act. In keeping with the idea of progression and enterprise such a man is a mighty good citizen for any town and we Bristol wish we had two hundred just like him.
